The Development Agency of Eastern Thessaloniki’s Local Authorities, ANATOLIKI S.A., participated in the 5th transnational meeting of the Erasmus+KA2 project “Wat.Edu”, co-funded by the European Union. The meeting was scheduled to take place in Prague, Czech Republic by the Institute for Structural Policy IREAS, but due to the evolution of COVID-19 pandemic, the two-days meeting was held online on 24th and 25th of August, 2020 with the active participation of all project partners.

During the first day of the meeting, the topics of discussion were, first of all, the final formatting and the finalization of the Handbook, which consists of a theoretical background and a methodological guide for teachers on training and environmental awareness raising for students aged 12 to 14 years old, on issues related to water. The Handbook is the first deliverable of the project and is planned to be finalized in October 2020. Furthermore, the project partners discussed about the latest spread of COVID-19 pandemic and whether it can affect the project implementation and the future holding of transnational meetings.

During the second day of the online meeting, Mr. George Rouvas, external expert of the Model Experimental School of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, presented the e-learning platform, which is the second deliverable of the project. The e-learning platform aims to inform, raise awareness and educate children on water-related issues. Mr. Rouvas presented the interactive educational games that have been produced so far and will be included in the e-learning platform and together with project partners, set the deadlines for the development of remaining educational games. The e-learning platform will be completed in October 2020 and will be available for students of the participating schools. Other issues discussed during the second day of the online meeting were the next management steps of the project, as well as the preparation for the transnational training of teachers on the deliverables produced from the project, which is scheduled to take place in December 2020 in Slovenia. Alternative scenarios were put forward, in case the live presence won’t be possible.

The project started about a year and a half ago, aiming at the creation, testing and gradual implementation through the participating educational institutions, of a new experiential and innovative pedagogical material, aiming at raising the environmental awareness of students aged 12 to 14 years old on issues related to water.
